New York State sending masks, COVID-19 tests to schools for start of classes ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) -- New York State is sending masks and COVID-19 rapid tests to school districts that request them for the start of the 2023-24 school year. Kathy Hochul's office Tuesday, the state will conduct an outreach survey this week to determine which districts and organizations need masks and test kits. Man comes out with hands up after fatal Illinois shooting TROY Ill. -- A woman is dead after a shooting in Troy, Illinois. Police say they have identified a suspect and that person is under arrest.Officers were called to the 2100 block of Tramore Tuesday for a report of a shooting. They found a man standing at the front door of the apartment with his hands up. He was placed in handcuffs by police. Call for Help closure has East St. Louis mothers crying for aid Police searched the building and found a woman with multiple gunshot wounds. Officers attempted to save her life until EMS arrived. She was eventually pronounced dead at the scene."There is no ongoing public safety concern. A suspect has been identified and in custody, We are grateful for the quick resolution to this incident," states Troy Police Chief Chris Wasser.The identity of the victim is expected to be released after all of her family has been notified of the death. Orange County man dies when motorcycle slams into tree The Fresno County coroner has identified a man who died when his motorcycle crashed into a tree Saturday evening as Robert McGhee, 58, of Santa Ana, KSEE/KGPE reports.CHP says around 6:50 p.m. officers responded to Kearney Boulevard, just east of Valentine Avenue, for an injury collision.Investigators say McGhee was riding a Harley-Davidson motorcycle eastbound on Kearney Blvd. when his bike veered off the south edge of the road and crashed into a palm tree.McGhee was ejected from his bike and suffered critical injuries, CHP said.
