We are to believe that our government’s spending decisions are to be trusted. Well, they are if we might be excused a wink and a nod and a poke to the ribs. For example, we were told that the renovation of the Governor’s Mansion on Summit Avenue would cost $6.3 million. That figure has jumped just a tad in the last four months, to $12.8 million. So, more than double the original estimate.Double.The state’s Department of Administration, in charge of such things as renovating state mansions, say they have plenty of money to cover higher-than-expected bids for heating, air conditioning, ventilation and electrical and plumbing systems. Oh, and the old boiler and its piping system have to be replaced, too.We just keep falling off the turnip truck. We pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off and pay another bungled bill, whether it’s a food fraud, or a failed cannabis hire, or the bills that will come due after the budget grows by the $18 billion that should have been returned to us turnip far...Woman’s body found and man arrested in Fish Lake Township Friday

ST. LOUIS -- It's a chilly start out there, behind the second cold front. It was the coolest morning of the season so far. In fact, we haven't dipped below 50 degrees since May 4th. The skies have cleared, so we'll have plenty of sunshine today. But despite that sunshine, temperatures will be cool, in the low 60s, and a bit breezy. Overnight temperatures will fall to the upper 30s and low/mid 40s again. We could see some patchy frost in colder, rural locations. Sunday will be a bit warmer, with highs in the low 70s. Another push of cooler air moves in late Sunday, which cools us off again for Monday with highs in the mid-60s. Rain chances increase on Wednesday.Highest-rated wineries in Missouri, according to Yelp

While California's wine country is known for being a top winery destination (and also home to the award-winning bottle of chardonnay that won top honors at the Judgment of Paris competition in 1976), wine connoisseurs no longer have to travel all the way to California for a good winery experience. In fact, at this point, noteworthy wineries are available to visit in every state, if you know where to look.As of February 2023, there are 11,691 wineries in the United States, an increase of more than 10% since 2020. A 2022 report from WineAmerica stated the wine industry generates $276 billion in total economic activity and employs over a million people. With such a booming industry and a plethora of wineries to choose from, how does a vino-lover know if a winery is worth it? First, the location is a big reason why people choose to visit a winery; if they are tucked away next to a sprawling field...LIST: Free family events around St. Louis
