Kickin’ It with Kiz: No-hopers. Broncos surrender 70 points. Rockies lose 100 games. What’s worse?

Kickin’ It with Kiz: No-hopers. Broncos surrender 70 points. Rockies lose 100 games. What’s worse? The Broncos losing 70-20 irks me more than 100 losses by the Rockies, because at least the Broncos have the talent to prevent that kind of debacle. While really bad, 100 L’s are the product of greedy Rockies management that won’t give the team the talent it needs to compete.Ed, DenverKiz: It’s a week of Colorado sports that will live in infamy. The Broncos got Josephed. As a wise (acre) friend told me, 10 touchdowns are a lot in any NFL game, especially when they are scored by one team. Even worse: Lost in the darkness, our Pet Rocks stumble home from Coors Field to a basement apartment with no windows in McGregor Square. I’m confident, however, the crazy-rich Waltons will do whatever it takes to return the Broncos to football glory. Rockies owner Dick Monfort? I wouldn’t give him five bucks and trust him to return home with a can of SpaghettiOs.What irks me is Broncos defensive coordinator Vance Joseph has more lives than a Stephen King cat. How and wh...

12 L.A. County cities file lawsuit to block new zero bail policy Twelve cities in Los Angeles County have filed a lawsuit Friday against the new zero-bail policy set to take effect on Oct. 1.The policy would allow some criminal suspects with non-violent or non-serious crimes to be cited and released when, previously, they would have been held on bond. The new Pre-Arraignment Release Protocols are designed to rely less on the arrestee's ability to pay and more on their risk to the public or victim, Los Angeles County Superior Court stated following a July decision to institute the system. According to the protocols, those arrested for low-level, non-violent offenses will be released at the location of arrest or booked and then released with a promise to appear at arraignment.Court papers submitted to the L.A. Congress passes stopgap bill to avert shutdown ahead of midnight deadline (CNN) — Congress passed a stopgap bill to avert a government shutdown just hours ahead of a critical midnight deadline when funding for federal agencies was set to run out. The Senate passed the measure Saturday evening after the House abruptly reversed course earlier in the day and passed a bipartisan bill to extend government funding after days of uncertainty over whether a shutdown could be averted. The bill will next need to be signed into law by President Joe Biden. The bill will keep the government open through November 17 and includes natural disaster aid but not additional funding for Ukraine or border security. It also includes a measure to keep the Federal Aviation Administration operational. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy announced the stopgap proposal Saturday morning, a move that came after weeks of in-fighting among House Republicans and a failed effort to pass a GOP stopgap bill in the chamber. The bill passed the House with an overwhelmingly bipartisan vote. The...
