FERGUSON, Mo. -- Police are investigating a fatal shooting in Ferguson on Monday night. A man was found shot at around 10:30 p.m. in a vehicle near the intersection of South Florissant Road and Woodstock. First responders attempted to save his life at the scene, but he was later confirmed dead at an area hospital. Call for Help closure has East St. Louis mothers crying for aid "We are committed to conducting a thorough investigation into this tragic incident. Our hearts go out to the victim's family during this difficult time. We are deploying all available resources and engaging with the community to bring the perpetrator to justice. Long Beach Fire Department arson investigators want to talk to a man believed to be connected to a series of vehicle fires.Over the last two weeks, five fires have been set in the area between the Convention Center and the Camden Harbor View Apartments along Cedar Walk, Long Beach Fire Department Capt. A second former Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department deputy has agreed to plead guilty to a felony charge of depriving a man of his civil rights in Compton more than three years ago.Miguel Angel Vega, 33, of Corona, admitted in a plea agreement on Tuesday that he and his then partner, Christopher Blair Hernandez, 37, illegally detained a man after a verbal altercation in April 2020, then injured him when Vega crashed their patrol car, the U.S. Department of Justice said in a news release.Prosecutors identified the victim as J.A., though the Los Angeles Times said his name is Jesus Alegria. The Fresno County coroner has identified a man who died when his motorcycle crashed into a tree Saturday evening as Robert McGhee, 58, of Santa Ana, KSEE/KGPE reports.CHP says around 6:50 p.m. officers responded to Kearney Boulevard, just east of Valentine Avenue, for an injury collision.Investigators say McGhee was riding a Harley-Davidson motorcycle eastbound on Kearney Blvd. when his bike veered off the south edge of the road and crashed into a palm tree.McGhee was ejected from his bike and suffered critical injuries, CHP said.
