Editor's note: This story has been updated to correct the name of a school.The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department has identified the man accused of fatally shooting a clothing store owner in Cedar Glen for allegedly flying a Pride flag at the business.Officials say Travis Ikeguchi, 27, a Cedar Glen resident, shot and killed 66-year-old Laura Ann Carleton Friday night at her business, Mag.Pi.After the shooting, authorities say Ikeguchi fled the scene on foot but was shot and killed by deputies following a confrontation. He was carrying an unregistered 9mm Smith & Wesson semi-automatic handgun but had no personal identification, the Sheriff's Department said.The motive for the killing is believed to be linked to Carleton flying a Pride flag outside of her business, officials said. With the end of eviction protections put in place during the COVID-19 pandemic, many in Southern California are finding themselves at risk of being booted from their homes.On Monday, Los Angeles City Controller Kenneth Mejia's office released an interactive map showing where those evictions are occurring. "Evictions have been filed all across the city in recent months, but the data shows some areas receiving particularly high filing volumes," David Wagner explained for LAist. "ZIP codes in Hollywood (90028), Fairfax (90036) and Downtown L.A. Car Collision Near 51st Street Bus Stop Left 3 HospitalizedSOUTH LOS ANGELES, CA (August 22, 2023) – Wednesday evening, a two-vehicle crash near a metro bus stop in Vermont Square left seven people hurt.Police responded to the incident around 7:05 p.m. at the 450 block of 51st Street near Flower Street.The circumstances surrounding the collision between the two vehicle remains unknown. However, reports indicated that a vehicle struck a pedestrian in a crosswalk, pushing the pedestrian under a nearby bus.According to the investigators, the bus was unoccupied and the bus driver did not sustain any injuries from the incident.In the end, paramedics transported a total of three people to a hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Big Rig Hit and Killed a Man Near Jensen AvenueFRESNO, CA (August 22, 2023) – Monday afternoon, a man died in a bicycle-truck collision on Cedar Avenue, south of Fresno.Reports of the incident arrived around 12:30 p.m. on Cedar Avenue, near Jesen Avenue and Calwa Elementary School.According to the police, a man on a mountain bike turned left from the sidewalk into the path of a 2017 Kenworth truck. The cyclist then collided with the trailer’s rear axles, leading the truck’s right side tires to run over them.Unfortunately, the man on a bicycle sustained heavy injuries and died at the scene. An Oakland County, Michigan man is suing a popular Italian restaurant chain due to what he says was a unsettling discovery in a dish served at its Warren location.Thomas Howie of Madison Heights is seeking damages of more than $75,000 in the incident, in a lawsuit filed Aug. 18 against the Olive Garden restaurant, located at 30600 Van Dyke Avenue.In a release from his attorneys, Howie said he was dining with two other people on March 11. OAKLAND — Months after he was partially acquitted, a Pittsburg man has accepted a manslaughter plea deal and 22-year prison term in the 2016 shooting death of a teen girl, court records show.Darion Brown, 29, pleaded no contest to manslaughter in the death of 17-year-old Alexis Leann Ervin. The Oakley girl was shot a half-dozen times a little before 7 a.m. on June 8, 2016, behind the Rainbow Recreation Center, 5800 International Blvd. in East Oakland. In exchange for his plea, prosecutors dropped a murder charge against him.Brown went on trial last April, where he was acquitted of first-degree murder. But jurors couldn’t reach a verdict on the lesser offenses, including second-degree murder and manslaughter.The plea deal was finalized at an Aug. 17 court hearing, records show. Brown has not yet been transferred to state prison.
