BPS proposes tweak to exam schools entrance After months of parents pushing back on the new controversial exam school admissions policy, BPS Superintendent Mary Skipper released recommendations to smooth out some of the kinks at the latest School Committee meeting.Changes to the exam school admissions policy stirred controversy after the first round of invitations to Boston’s exam schools, Boston Latin School, Boston Latin Academy and the O’Bryant School of Math and Science, under the shift went out last spring. The policy shifted to distribute seats based on a socioeconomic tier system, divided by student’s geographic location, granting students in situations like homelessness and DCF care bonus points, and aiming to increase racial, economic and marginalized communities’ representation at the schools.Controversially though, some parents argued the policy shift — particularly the choice to give 10 bonus points to students at Title I schools with 40% or higher lower income student population ̵...

Why Joe Mazzulla believes Celtics are playing ideal brand of basketball after impressive week Jaylen Brown was in the midst of one of the best stretches of his basketball career, and he was feeling it. The Celtics were about to put away the Magic for good, and he sensed it.Midway through the fourth quarter, Brown delivered a dagger. Jayson Tatum corralled a Magic miss, and gave it to Brown. His hot hands did the rest. He took three dribbles and pulled up from 28 feet. The shot, of course, went in. TD Garden erupted. The Magic called timeout. Brown saluted the crowd. And on the sideline, his coach showed a rare case of emotion. He pumped his left fist with authority. And he let out a big roar as the Celtics came back to the huddle. Sunday’s victory over the Magic was in no doubt.“I think the players need to see that sometimes,” Mazzulla said. “I do, like everybody else, care about winning, and I do have fun. And I just thought it was a moment to show, I think we’re starting to play what I would call Celtic basketball.“From a mentality standpoint, from a toughness standpo...

He scored 31 points, which included five 3-pointers and 17 points in the fourth. He added six assists as he continued to develop as a dangerous facilitator. He was locked in defensively again. His dominant performance led the way for the Celtics as they ran away from the Magic with a 114-97 victory, which capped another perfect homestand at TD Garden.“It’s been really fun to watch him grow as a player this year,” Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla said.Jayson Tatum ...
